Hollywood Dun Honored as $4 Million Sire It was a bittersweet moment at the 2005 National Reining Horse Association Futurity on Thursday, December 1, when Hollywood Dun It was recognized as the NRHA’s first and only $4 million sire. Hollywood Dun it has been a dominating force in the reining industry for the past two decades and as the 2004 National Reining Horse Association Futurity came to a close, his foals carried him to another incredible achievement in his already sterling career. With the Open Finals Performance of the 2004 Futurity, the National Reining Horse Association’s All Time Leading Sire of reining horses crossed the $4 Million pinnacle. It would be less then four months later when the unforgettable stallion was humanely put down on March 30. The beautiful buckskin stallion had been suffering from severe health problems escalated by his continuing battle with testicular cancer. Now, a year later, Hollywood Dun It’s name brought tears to the eyes of attendees at the Thursday night performance of the Futurity, when he and other million, two million and three million dollar sires were recognized. Tim and Colleen McQuay, who owned Hollywood Dun It along with partner Jennifer Easton, were on hand to receive the bronze trophy signifying his achievement along with Mandy and Cade McCutcheon. “This is a great honor for Dun It,” said Tim McQuay. “With the continued support of owners and trainers and the remaining foal crops to show, it’s exciting to think that he can have more milestones like this even after he’s gone.” Hollywood Dun It’s name is synonymous with reining in the past twenty years and he has broken every National Reining Horse Association siring record. Hollywood Dun It owners Tim and Colleen McQuay and Jennifer Easton have always been quick to thank the many owners and trainers who have put their faith in him over the years. Tim noted, “This is a loss we share with owners and riders who have believed in Hollywood Dun It and in our program.” Hollywood Dun It’s foals have won the NRHA Futurity, NRHA Derby and Superstakes, the National Reining Breeders Classic, All American Quarter Horse Congress Futurity, Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity, the Tradition Futurity and numerous others. They've qualified and won gold medals in United States Equestrian Team competition and earned American Quarter Horse Association World Championships, as well. They've also excelled outside of the reining discipline, earning a Non Pro Reserve Championship at the National Reined Cow Horse Association World Championship Snaffle Bit Futurity and NRCHA World Championship. They’ve also collected National Cutting Horse Association dollars and there are even Champion roping and driving Dun Its!
Hollywood Dun It was
selected as the first Breyer Animal Creations reining horse in 1998, and
in 2002 his son, Dun Gotta Gun, was also similarly honored as a Breyer
collectible. The large volume of sales of the Hollywood Dun It model
have resulted in it being declared a collectors item and taken off the
production line. |
