Smart and Shiney, owned by Lyle Lovett, is a stunning Palomino Stallion by Smart Shiner and out of Tronas Pearl standing at McQuay Stables in Tioga, Texas. Smart Shiner, NRHA Intermediate Open Derby Champion, NRBC Intermediate Open top five finisher, and AQHA Superior Reining horse during his show career, is by the legendary $2 Million Sire Shining Spark and out of Smart Hickory, producer of earners of over $550,000. Smart and Shiney’s Dam, Trona’s Pearl, is a producer of multiple greats. With royal bloodlines in both the Reining and Cow Horse arenas, Smart and Shiney was born with the potential to do great things- and he has certainly fulfilled the hopes of his breeders and owners.
At the start of his show career, Smart and Shiney earned a place in the 2006 NRHA Open Futurity Finals, taking a spot in the top twelve with Tim McQuay at the reins. In 2007, he performed again, earning NRHA Open Derby Finals honors. He was the NRHA Cowboy Capitol Classic Open Derby Champion in 2008, also earning a top ten finish in the NRHA Open Derby. As a six year old, he was the NRBC Open Prelim Co-Champion, also finishing in the top ten in the finals. As a member of Team Italy, Smart and Shiney helped earn a Team Bronze Medal at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. His show career brought him total earnings of over $151,000.

Shiney Little Queen, an NRHA Open Futurity Level 3 and 2 third place finisher and NRHA Open Futurity Finalist, One HOT Futurity Open Level 4, 3, and 2 Champion, earned over $50,850 during her three year old year; Shine N Money placed in the top 5 in the NRHA Non Pro Futurity Level 3 and the Heritage Futurity Non Pro Level 3 and 4, also placing in the top 10 in the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity Level 3 Non Pro and the Tulsa Reining Classic Non Pro Futurity Level 3, earning over $15,000 during her three year old year. Designed with Shine, also a three year old in 2014, was the Reining By the Bay Open Futurity Reserve Champion, AZRHA Best of the West Open Reining Futurity Level 3 and 4 Open Champion, and earner of over $13,600 in her three year old year.
